(I would advise you to have listened through the EP at least once before reading this. It's up to you, but I think that ideal for maximal effect -- "spoilers" of sorts ahead.)

The Story.

Every sound on this EP (which has a convenient abbreviation) is sampled from internet pornography. Obviously there has been a considerable amount of effecting and manipulation to obscure the original source and make the results musically useful, but nothing so extreme as taking a single cycle and resampling that. Hi-hats may come from breathing noises, pads from female noises elongated and stretched out, and so on.

Where the difficulty obviously came is getting sounds with sufficient bass to act as basslines or bassdrums. In a few cases, such as "Our Zero," a sample excited a highly resonant, tuned filter -- mild cheating, but you'll have to excuse me that. (Likewise in "Indoor Setup," one of the melodic parts is in part due to a tuned filter excited by a sample.)

No sounds were sourced from music contained in pornography -- that would be cheating.
